the work and life of an internet pastor

by David on October 27, 2008

One of the questions I get all the time, is “What do you actually do?”

Being an Internet Pastor is a pretty new thing. It seems to take people some pondering to wrap their minds around whole concept. I could talk a lot about Internet Campuses and the internet church thing [I plan on blogging about that soon] but for now I’ll give you a little glimpse into what actually consumes my time day to day …and no, my entire job is not online!

Last week I spent:

11 hrs in Internet Campus Development Meetings
4 hrs in General Staff & Director Meetings
4 hrs hospital visitation
4 hrs with a Reporter from Copenhagen
6 hrs planning a funeral (service planning + time with the fam)
3 hrs at the viewing and funeral itself
6 hrs of video production for online classes
3 hrs of prep for the video stuff
2 hrs of set up for services online
6 hrs of services/chat

In addition to the hours… I responded to 538 emails and who knows how many Facebook messages (I didn’t count those).

On my own time last week I posted only 2 blogs (I now see why that number is so low), I read Seth Godin’s Tribes, did a few odd jobs around the house, and hung out with my family.

Good post. I am a CPA and financial planner that helps families needing to save money on funeral costs. You can find some good, objective information about funeral and cremation planning, funeral costs, and ways to reduce funeral costs here: http://www.funeral-tips.com
