It was the day after spring break, and I was waiting for class to start. Just as the teacher began the class, the door opened one more time. A new girl stood in the doorway. She was wearing jeans, a red t-shirt and a jean jacket. Her hair was blonde, long, curly, and teased up in the front just like it should have been in the 80′s!
I was captivated the moment I saw her. She sat across the room to the right of me. The next day everything changed when she sat in the open seat right in front of me. I had a plan. I wanted a Grad Date that was really special and one that no one knew. Manuela was the perfect choice.
I played it real smooth. I got to know her just a little bit and made her laugh once in a while. I didn’t skip a single German class the rest of the year (i think!). Two weeks later I asked her to come with me to my Graduation/Prom.
I didn’t realize that June 3rd 1988 would change my life forever, but it did.
It was our first date, the first time I held her hand, & our first Kiss. I’ll never forget it.
Now, on the 21st anniversary of our very first date, I love her more than I ever have. I married my high school sweetheart and my very best friend.
