Coffee Cupping that is.
My friends Marla & David invited me to meet them at a Starbucks “coffee cupping”. When she invited me, I had no idea what that was. I googled it. Found out that a coffee cupping is “the practice of observing the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee.” Quite similar to a wine tasting.
We smelled, tasted, and disposed of (spit out) several spoonfuls of 4 different types of African Coffee. Observing the aromas, body, bitterness, sweetness & saltiness of the coffees was a great experience. I can’t wait to do it again. Does coffee cupping qualify as a small group? If so, I’m so in!

Okay, Starbucks coffee is gruesome at the best of times, but this is just gross!
BTW, when I go to a wine tasting event, I don’t spit, I ask for seconds…. just to make sure I got it right! LOL
Small group…great idea! Didn’t I hear that Reed (sp?) is taking us toward “life groups”? I think part of that must be affinity groups. Therefore…..
I told Robin it felt at times like we wre taking “Coffee Communion.”
Michael L if you think that sounded gross, you should have seen the passerby lady who thought to join us and immediately took a big swig and swallow of the crust of grounds on the first cup we handed her to smell!
David, you guys did awesome! Not everyone can handle a cupping, but it is one of the most authentic ways to understand the characteristics of coffee. A coffee “flavored” small group is a great idea…
Maybe it’s just me, but… doesn’t the term, “My first cupping” sound just a little weird? LOL
