worth checking out | jaime jam

Jaime JamThis past weekend, Manuela and I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with some pretty incredible people. We’ve been honored to meet celebs of all types. Some that have left good impressions, and some have fallen a little (or a lot) short.

Jaime Jamgochian is a relatively new artist out of Nashville that really impressed us. She’s just released a CD called Above the Noise. Great CD, and great singer. She’s on the rise. She’s starting to book up. Yet what impressed us the most about her was her sincerity and humility.

As a Dad of 3 gorgeous kids (2 girls and 1 boy), I tend to assess people by whether or not I want my kids to be like them, and look to them as a viable example to follow. I want my kids to have role models that exemplify honesty, integrity, and purity. In those characteristics lie beauty that has far more depth than our eyes can see.

With all the celebrities, sports heroes, and media junkies that our kids look to these days, it sure is nice to have one’s that we can point to and say, “be like her” or, “be like him.” That’s what Jaime is; a role model and an example that isn’t just a great voice or performer… but a person that we can point to as a true example of character, kindness, & integrity. Thanks Jaime.

Check out Jaime on facebook, myspace, or at jaimiejam.com.

starbucks | pike place roast

I’m a coffee addict, and I love Starbucks. My favorite blend is the Komodo Dragon Blend. My friend, and Starbucks manager, Richard made one of my all time favorite specialty coffees. He w ouldn’t tell me the ingredients until I told him what I thought of it. I loved it. Then he gave me the news….

7 shots of espresso
10 pumps of vanilla
about a half an inch of cream
and ice to the top

Rich knows how I like my coffee. Earthy, bold, rich, and relatively sweet. The next best coffee I’ve ever tasted just happens to be down the road at Marla & Dave’s. I do believe their Jura uses only starbucks beans.

Recently, Starbucks introduced the Pike Place Roast. Although I love pretty much everything they do, I’m not so fond of this move. It’s weak. It makes me feel like I should be buying donuts at the same time. I’m not sure what you all think, but the only way the Pike Place Roast works for me, is when ordered as a black eye. So for now, I’ll keep brewing my Komodo Dragon Blend at home, and enjoy my periodic Starbucks visits, but i’ll definately be upgrading my Pike Place Roast with a minimum of 2 add shots.

john piper | on prosperity

Tonight I launched my website, and my good bud Jason, who is totally my coach and tech guru sent me a link to his old college roommate Dave’s blog. This vid is embedded from GodTube. It speaks for itself.

is twittering:

It’s hard not to notice when one of your friends become a twitterer. Their blog, myspace, facebook, and other random sites get continuously bombarded with status updates. I confess, I’m a twitterer. A lot of you know it already. So here’s the question everyone’s been asking me; What’s Twitter, and why are you doing it?

The What

According to the unauthorized source we all love to go to Wikipedia

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send “updates” (or “tweets”; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website, via short message service (e.g. on a cell phone), instant messaging, or a third-party application such as Twitterrific or Facebook.

The Why

I personally like to refer to twittering as micro-blogging. Basically, keeping up with friends, networking with associates, and creating interest in what you the twitterer find pleasure in. Every twitterer has their very own reasons for doing it. Here are mine…

Twittering has brought about a revolution what has been refered to as “Connected Consciousness” and I love it. Basically, it’s the ability we have in this day and age to connect and network with people from a variety of backgrounds. I don’t think I have all the answers. Collaboration matters to me. Twitter evokes collaboration, and there isn’t a single person in this world, that I don’t have something to learn from.

Twitter helps me manage and evaluate my schedule. I find myself looking back and see what I’ve been up too. When I change tasks throughout my day, It makes me consider the value of what I’m about to do.

Twittering generates interest in the things I’m passionate about. That may to a degree sound selfish, but its true. I want my life to count. I want it to have meaning. My personal objective in life is to make a difference in this world in a way that leaves a lasting legacy. Twitter won’t leave that legacy; I will.

Let’s face it… how many of you on my facebook & myspace, have wondered what on earth this twittering thing is?

There’s so many reasons to Twitter, and so many not too. Either way, we all have the option to do it, or not too. For now, its a fun thing for me. I’ll probably keep doing it until some new obsession comes along.
